A bold, national movement to support 100,000 HBCU students by 2040 and deliver $100 million in student aid. This is more than a campaign. It’s a generational commitment to Stability, Opportunity, and Achievement.

We step in fast, with dignity and direct support — because students can’t wait.

Why We Exist?

Too many HBCU students face food insecurity, housing instability, tuition gaps, and unexpected financial emergencies.

These aren’t small setbacks — they’re barriers that push students out of school entirely.

True Blue 1881 exists so no student has to choose between:

Most organizations direct funding to institutions. True Blue directs support straight to students.

When a student is facing a tuition gap, food insecurity, or a financial emergency, they don’t have time to wait for institutional processes. We step in directly, quickly, and with dignity.

True Blue is also different because our work is powered by the very success HBCUs have created. We call on HBCU graduates, alumni, and partners who have gone on to thrive to invest back into the next generation of leaders.

Why is True Blue
Different?

True Blue 1881 takes a fundamentally different approach to supporting HBCU student success.
